Introduction
Over the last weeks, we’ve quietly rebuilt the Smart Trades Training website from the ground up. Not to make it louder or more complex — but to make it clearer, calmer and more useful for local shops, trades and small businesses in the Border Counties.
This short walkthrough video explains the new structure, the thinking behind it, and how the different parts of the platform work together in practice.
A clear global design standard
The website now follows one consistent global standard — simple layout, clear navigation, and a mobile-first structure. It’s designed to be easy to understand even if digital topics are not part of your daily work.
What changed
- One clear layout across all pages
- Simple, predictable navigation
- Mobile-first structure
- No buzzwords or unnecessary technical language
Clarity builds trust — and trust is essential for local business relationships.
Local Help & Support: real people, not ticket systems
Local Help and Support are a central part of the platform. This area exists for one reason: when something doesn’t work, you can reach a real person.
Especially in the Border Counties, accessibility and trust matter more than anonymous call centres or endless ticket systems.
What local support means in practice
- Faster resolution
- Clear communication
- People who understand local businesses and realities
SmartWeb: the core service
SmartWeb is the heart of Smart Trades Training: simple, professional websites for local shops and small businesses — fully managed, hosted, updated and supported.
What SmartWeb includes
- Professional website setup that represents your business properly
- Managed hosting and maintenance
- Updates, improvements and support included
The goal is not just “having a website”, but having a site that actually works for you — without constant tech stress.
SmartTraffic: visibility that actually matters
SmartTraffic focuses on visibility: Google Business Profiles, local search, and SEO basics — so people can actually find your shop when they search nearby.
A website without visibility doesn’t help much. That’s why SmartWeb and SmartTraffic belong together.
Blog & About: clarity instead of marketing noise
We’ve also cleaned up the Blog and the About section — clear language, real projects and real context. The blog is designed as a knowledge library, not a marketing feed.
This helps both humans and AI-based search systems understand what we do, where we work, and how we support local businesses.
What’s coming next: SmartNet, SmartPay & SmartHub
In the background, we’re building additional services to support local businesses even further:
- SmartNet – safe internet access for shops and public spaces
- SmartPay – simple payment setups and practical support
- SmartHub – a space for local digital pioneers
This is where the idea of the Local Digital Champion comes in — supporting people who want to bring their town or sector forward digitally, step by step, together.
